About Our Foundation
The Addison Elementary School Foundation has
been established to raise money for specific programs needed
for the children of Addison Elementary School.
The foundation is funded through:
- Annual
memberships
- Community
donations
- Fundraising
events
The foundation
is a 501(c)(3) public charity. All donations made to the
Addison Elementary School Foundation are tax deductible. The
tax-exempt status from the IRS enables the Foundation to
receive employee-matching funds and to apply for educational
grant monies.
“Never doubt that a small group
of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
-Margaret Mead
Why do we need a Foundation
for Addison?
Addison’s Foundation has a very specific and
narrow set of objectives—To secure financial support, by
working closely within the private and public sector.
Money will then be used to provide a variety of programs and
resources that go above and beyond what is available from
the Cobb County School District and our PTA. By enriching
the curriculum, we will be strengthening the quality of the
public education our students are receiving, allowing them
the opportunity to remain competitive with other local
students and on National and International levels.
In short, the Foundation can provide funding to hire
specialized teachers and pay their salaries, address capital
needs and facility improvements, purchase advanced teaching
and training tools, provide enhanced programs, and supply
the means for any other teacher, student, staff or parent
identified need while creating valuable learning experiences
for all of our children.
What's the difference
between the Foundation and the PTA?
Our strong PTA allows
Addison to have various programs, volunteers, and support
for our teachers. The Foundation is designed to complement
and journey hand-in-hand with the PTA for the main purpose
of the children. A strong Foundation will give us the
ability to secure funding to supplement the educational
opportunities that are not currently being funded by the
state or county budgets. Many of these programs cannot be
funded through PTA either because they are subject to
pre-designated restrictions and National guidelines that
limit how our PTA can spend its money. For example, PTA can
fund a Cultural Arts Day program but the Foundation can hire
Science, Technologies, or Foreign Language instructors. |
